Therefore leaving behind the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on to perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this we will do if God permit. (Hebrews 6:1-3)

Study Guide 1

1. What does the word "repent" mean?

A desire to turn away from sin and towards God. See Strong’s Bible Concordance.

2. What does the word "baptism" mean?

To immerse or make fully wet. See Strong’s Bible Concordance.

3. Who should be baptized?

Anyone who is willing to repent of their sins and accept Jesus.

Acts 8:36-38

8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

4. Who is qualified to baptize someone?

Anyone who has already been saved and baptized.

1 Corinthians 1:14-16 (Paul addressing the Corinthian Church)

1:14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;

1:15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.

1:16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.

5. Is salvation by works (doing good deeds, etc)?

No. Salvation is by grace through faith.

Ephesians 2:8-9

2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

6. What is grace? God’s unmerited favor or benefit. See Strong’s Bible Concordance.

7. What must one do to be saved?

Believe with your heart in the Lord Jesus Christ and confess Him as Lord with your mouth.

Romans 10:8-10

10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Acts 16:30-31

16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

John 3:15-16

3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 5:24

5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

8. What is the baptism of the Holy Spirit?

To be endued with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 24:49

24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Acts 1:5-8

1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
1:6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
1:7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 2:1-4

2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

We are Sabbath-Keepers, Not Seventh-Day Adventists...
Please don't get confused. We do not endorse some of their doctrines although we believe they do love YAHUSHUA, also called in Greek JESUS CHRIST.

We believe in the rapture, we believe there is a hell eternal, we believe to be absent from the body is to be present with YAHUSHUA, also named in Greek JESUS CHRIST. Seventh-Day Adventists believe the lie of soul sleep. Remember the thief hanging on the cross who, because he believed on Him, was told by YAHUSHUA, "Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:43, KJV)

We know that Prophecy did not cease with Ellen G. White and Seventh-Day Adventists believe in Ellen G. White as the only prophet for today, though she is dead and what she prophesied did not come to pass.

We believe in Keeping the true Sabbath, for it is the 4th commandment, but we don't believe it takes the place of the saving blood of YAHUSHUA (JESUS CHRIST).
